Contest!!!
[ Post by Lisa Tedder ][ Post on February 5, 2013 ][ In Uncategorized ]
Just in case you missed it last week, I am sponsoring a contest on my blog on jonesboro.com to celebrate my 100th post. It is a very simple contest and you could win a $25 gift certificate to your favorite restaurant or sporting goods store. I’m asking for stories from my readers; it’s that simple. I want to know something that made you make a commitment to better health. By the way, this contest is open to anyone, anywhere. You don’t have to live in Jonesboro; I can send a gift certificate anywhere. Your story could also be about a friend or family member as well. If having your first child made you decide to learn to cook so the family would eat better, that counts. If your Dad gave up smoking because you had asthma, that story counts as well. Share your story of your road to health to inspire us all. Best of all, you don’t have to write the story, I will, from details you provide. For contest rules and more information, click here. This could be the easiest contest ever and you get to pick your prize. Good luck, and remember, you can’t win if you don’t enter. Contest deadline is February 15th.
I’d like to comment further on the post I wrote last week about being willing to be uncomfortable in order to accomplish something. I wanted to share just how uncomfortable that interview made me but how wonderfully it went. Well before the interview, I did my homework and gathered basic information about the person I was meeting in order not to waste her time. I made a list of questions and thought about how I wanted the article to read and what my readers needed to know. I didn’t sleep well the night before the interview, waking up to think of what I should do or say. The morning of the interview I was very nervous and my stomach hurt. We met over lunch so I wouldn’t cut into her valuable work time. Once we sat down and started talking, my nervousness went away. I relaxed and enjoyed the whole conversation. I learned so much about someone I didn’t know well and I feel I made a new friend. The point is I endured the suffering necessary to get what I wanted and it was worth it. The next time probably won’t be any easier but then again, maybe it will. Doing something over and over, allows us to gain confidence and experience. Doing is better than dreaming.
I hope you thought about your goals and dreams last week and decided that what you want is worth a bit of suffering. I can’t encourage you more strongly to get out there and actually live your life rather than just pass through it.
