A Christmas Story
[ Post by Lisa Tedder ][ Post on December 18, 2012 ][ In Uncategorized ]
Twas the week before Christmas
And all through the house
only me and the cats were stirring,
hopefully not even a mouse.
My son was still tucked all snug in his bed,
While my daughter was at school, using her head.
A kitty in my lap, hot chocolate in hands,
I was trying to write inspirational words for my fans,
when out on the lawn I heard such a clatter,
I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.
And what to my sleepy eyes should appear
but a miniature sleigh and eight mule deer.
I wasn’t dizzy or sick
yet I knew it must be St. Nick!
In a twinkling I called out, no fooling,
“Santa, what are you doing?”
His eyes twinkled and his dimples were merry
His cheeks were like roses, his nose a cherry.
His face was creased like a bow
and the beard on his chin was white as snow.
Yet this Santa was fit and flat was his belly;
nothing shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly!
He spoke not a word but handed me a stocking;
inside was a Fitbit and tennis shoes for walking,
olive oil for cooking and a basket of fruit,
best of all, a Nike track suit!
He jumped in his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle
and away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard he exclaim, before he could disappear,
“Good Health to all in the coming New Year!”
Please excuse my pitiful attempt at humor and poetry but I hope you got a laugh. Wishing you and your family have a safe, happy holiday filled with love and laughter. May your New Year be filled with a renewed dedication to good health.
